Who We Are

Dearborn County Clearinghouse and Food Pantry - "Offering a hand up, not a handout!"

We are currently serving 2,372 Clients and over 911 Households

  • We are a food and clothing pantry.
  • We provide help for financially challenged families.

The Clearinghouse is a non-profit organization that provides food, clothing, rent, and utilities, if the funds are available, to financially challenged families in our community. It was established in 1981 in an effort to stop the duplication and abuse of services provided by the churches in the area who were helping provide families with food and other necessities. This is what our organization strives to do even today.

We provide a sack lunch to clients each day and groceries that will make three to six meals that a family can get once a month on a regular basis and is bumped to twice a month during a crisis period for the household. We also have a second hand clothing distribution service that allows a family to browse for clothes once a month.

In addition, we actually service as our name indicates, as a clearinghouse for benevolent services for the entire county. Often, we serve as the hub to compile projects and then facilitate the distribution of those services to the community as a whole. A prime example is the Coalition for Children’s Christmas Toys (CCCT) which we spearhead each holiday season.
